Godwin Yaw Andam (CR GNAT Chairman) and Rockson Boateng (CR Rep to Teachers Fund)
The Central Regional branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) marked this year's World Teachers' Day with a series of vibrant and impactful celebrations across all districts, as well as municipal and metropolitan areas in the region. The events underscored a holistic approach to teacher welfare, focusing on physical health, community support, and financial empowerment.
The occasion was not just a ceremonial gathering but a dynamic day filled with activities designed to honour the dedication and hard work of educators. A key highlight was a keep-fit session, promoting physical well-being among the teaching fraternity.
"Our Health is Our Wealth": Chairman's Vital Advice
Addressing the teachers during the keep-fit event, the Central Regional GNAT Chairman, Mr. Godwin Yaw Andam, delivered a powerful message on the importance of health. He advised educators to make their well-being a top priority, emphasizing that a healthy teacher is essential for a vibrant educational system.
"Our health is very important and must be taken seriously," Mr. Andam stated. He further encouraged teachers not to neglect their medical needs and to proactively seek healthcare when necessary. This counsel resonated deeply with the members, reminding them that their ability to shape futures is intrinsically linked to their own physical and mental fitness.
Giving Back to the Community: A Gesture of Support
In the spirit of the celebration and its theme of nurturing future generations, the Central Regional GNAT demonstrated its commitment to education and inclusivity through a charitable outreach. The association donated a variety of essential educational materials to beneficiaries across the region. These donations were presented to schoolchildren, inmates at the Ankaful Prisons, and directly to schools, ensuring that the gift of learning reached a broad spectrum of the community.
Embracing Digital Convenience for Financial Management
The celebration also served as a platform to modernize teacher services. Mr. Rockson Boateng, the Central Regional representative to the Teachers Fund National, seized the opportunity to introduce and promote the innovative Teachers Fund app.
He urged all teachers to adopt the app, highlighting it as the fastest and most convenient way to monitor their contributions and access their loans. This digital solution is set to streamline administrative processes, giving teachers immediate control and transparency over their financial records with the Fund.
The combination of health awareness, community charity, and technological advancement made the World Teachers' Day celebration a resounding success. Teachers across the Central Region expressed their delight with the well-organized events, leaving the ceremonies feeling valued, supported, and energized to continue their vital work in shaping the nation's future.
